Day by day planning

  • Arrival in Marrakech, overnight at the hotel. Free time for sightseeing and dinner in the city.

  • Departure to the Bougmez Valley, overnight at the ‘Gîte des Roses’ of the Oulaïdi family. (approximately 5 hours drive) Explore the beautiful valley, with canals and small fields, pyramids, and marabouts.

  • Ait Imi - Rbat - foot of the Wagoulzat mountain. Meet our guiding team and the mules. Departure to the small village of Ait Imi with its old Jewish quarter, then to the village of Akourbi, the poorest village in the valley. In Rbat, visit the old kasbahs. Lunch at the spring. We climb to the shepherd huts of Tawaia, where we will spend the night. We are now close to Mount Wagoulzat (2500m).

  • Wagoulzat – Izorar Lake. We head east to see the shepherd huts of Ait H'kim. We cross our first mountain pass: Tagafaït at 3000m, offering a fantastic view of Izorar Lake and the mountain huts of Ait Atta. Our camp is located slightly lower, at 2700m. Various nomads gather around the water wells.

  • Izorar Plateau – Tizi ‘n Tirboula. This is a key route for the summer migration of the nomads. We meet the real nomads of the Atta tribe. Perhaps we can help with some basic necessities: medication, children's clothing, technical assistance…

  • Tizi ‘n Tirboula – Mejdeg Gorges. Departure to the Col of Ouaddo at 3200m. Breathtaking views of the high plateaus, the Cirque of Taghia, and the massif of Tizi'n Toudat (3500m). After lunch, we descend to the narrow gorges of Mejdeg. In June, nomads must wade through with their herds, quite impressive! Camp at Aqqa N'ouanzig in the gorges at 2600m.

  • Mejdeg Gorges – foot of Tizi’n Toudet. Today, we walk for 2 to 2.5 hours, enjoying some well-deserved rest. A perfect moment to bond with the nomads. Who knows, there may even be music!

  • Foot of Tizi’n Toudet – Arg Valley. We continue descending through the gorges and climb back up over the Arg ridge. Views of Tighremt Aït Aïssa. Lunch and descent into the Arg Valley, with its beautiful fortified kasbah. We are at 1700m.

  • Arg Valley – Iminikht. From one gorge to another! We make a spectacular walk through the fast-flowing waters of the M’Goun gorges to Iminikht at 1800m. Here, we may leave some medication or toys for the children. We sleep in the village and experience village life.

  • Iminikht – Aflafal. There are about twelve villages in the M’Goun Valley. In the summer, the fields are bustling with activity. If you wish, you can help out here and there. We overnight in Aflafal, near a river at 2400m.

  • Aflafal – Oullilimt Gorges – Ifri Oukhlifa – Tanoute (2800m). Plenty of water here from the Oullilimt River. We climb to the foot of Igdamin at 3500m and enter a fairy-tale setting with ‘fairy chimneys’ on the Tanoute plateau. What a dream!

  • Tanout – Igdamin – Ait Bougmez. Our trek is coming to an end. Over the Igdamin pass (3200m), with a beautiful panoramic view, we reach Tabant after a steep descent. A nice warm shower awaits us and a delicious dinner in the Oulaïdi family's gîte.

  • Return to Marrakech, dinner, and overnight at the hotel.

  • Return flight.
